Abstract

The article focuses on Jnane Karwan, a newly opened tented desert retreat in Marrakech designed to celebrate Amazigh (Berber nomad) culture. Founded by Senegalese West Indian hospitality pioneer Meryanne Loum-Martin, the hotel features five tents furnished with art and antiques from the Maghreb and offers amenities such as private pools and a heated swimming pool. Jnane Karwan also hosts cultural programming, including an annual Diaspora Salon that gathers artists, writers, and cultural figures of African ancestry. The retreat aims to create an immersive cultural experience by blending place, purpose, and lived heritage. [Extracted from the article]
