Abstract

The article focuses on recent activities and initiatives undertaken by the Taranaki Literacy Association (TLA) to enhance literacy among educators and students. Key events included a Sharing Best Practice session attended by 100 kaiako, featuring presentations on implementing structured literacy and DIBELS assessments. The TLA is also hosting a writing competition titled "Nature Speaks," encouraging young writers to reflect on Taranaki's landscapes, with prizes for various age categories. Additionally, 124 books were donated to maternity wards, and members attended a symposium in Wellington, gaining insights on topics including artificial intelligence in education.
