Abstract

The article focuses on the establishment and evaluation of an adult autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant program at a community hospital-based cancer center in a rural state, initiated in 2021. The program included the development of a cellular therapy laboratory and a comprehensive training protocol for technologists with no prior cell processing experience. Over 17 months, the study assessed processing outcomes, contamination rates, and patient results, revealing effective training and successful patient engraftment. The findings suggest that the training program is a viable model for similar community-based healthcare settings. [Extracted from the article]
