Abstract

The article examines the evolving role of unarmed park rangers in enhancing safety, environmental education and community relations within local park systems in the U.S. Topics include the benefits of the implementation of nonviolent safety practices, the nature-based initiatives led by rangers in Prince William County, Virginia and New Haven, Connecticut, and the role of rangers as goodwill ambassadors to visitors at Passaic County, New Jersey.
