Abstract

This article focuses on the immersive documentary *D-Day: The Camera Soldier*, which uses footage shot by World War II photographer and soldier Richard Taylor during the Omaha Beach landing on June 6, 1944. Co-produced by TIME Studios’s immersive division and the Emmy-nominated team Targo, the 20-minute experience is available on the Apple Vision Pro headset and combines archival footage, personal letters, and interactive objects to provide a personal and historical perspective on D-Day. The documentary also explores the relationship between Taylor and his daughter Jennifer Taylor-Rossel, who connected with her father’s wartime experiences through this project. The immersive format aims to preserve veterans’ stories and make history more accessible and emotionally resonant for future generations.
