Abstract

The article focuses on the development of a digital adaptation of the Body Advocacy Movement (BAM), a peer-led program aimed at preventing eating disorders (ED) by addressing fatphobia and anti-fat bias. The study utilized a human-centered design approach, conducting semi-structured interviews with 31 participants, including college students with elevated ED psychopathology and past BAM participants, to gather insights on their experiences and preferences regarding mental health technology. Findings indicate a significant interest in a hybrid digital format that combines synchronous and asynchronous elements, which could enhance accessibility and engagement in ED prevention efforts. The next steps involve designing and pilot testing this digital adaptation to assess its feasibility and effectiveness. [Extracted from the article]
