Abstract
A Hong Kong man has become the first person to be convicted under the city's new national security law. Chu Kai-pong pleaded guilty to one charge of sedition for wearing a T-shirt with a protest slogan. The slogan, "Liberate Hong Kong; revolution of our times," was used by protesters during anti-government demonstrations in 2019. The new national security law, known as Article 23, carries a maximum penalty of ten years in jail. Chu will be sentenced on Thursday. [Extracted from the article]
