Abstract
This article focuses on the association between "skin fade" haircuts and the spread of tinea capitis, a highly contagious scalp infection caused by the fungus Trichophyton tonsurans. It presents three pediatric cases from South Wales, each linked to recent visits to different barbershops for a "skin fade" haircut, characterized by a graded hair length using clippers and razors. The cases highlight the role of barbershops as potential sites of cross-contamination when hygiene practices are inadequate. The findings suggest that the "skin fade" haircut may be a risk factor for transmitting tinea capitis among children.
