Abstract
The article focuses on ConocoPhillips' increased spending plans for the Willow oil and natural gas project in Alaska, which have risen to as much as $9 billion due to inflation and other rising costs. Initially estimated at $7 billion to $7.5 billion, the project is now expected to begin oil production in early 2029, with general inflationary costs accounting for approximately $700 million of the increase. The Willow project is projected to yield about 600 million barrels of crude over 30 years. ConocoPhillips, a Houston-based oil company with a long history in Alaska, is also looking to diversify its portfolio amid aging shale basins in Texas. [Extracted from the article]
