Abstract

The article discusses the life and works of U.S. Confederate General and Ku Klux Klan leader Nathan Bedford Forrest, particularly his alleged slave trading career. Also cited are Forrest's business of buying and selling enslaved Americans in Tennessee in the 1850s, and the alleged collaboration by Forrest with Confederate veteran General Thomas Jordan and journalist J. P. Pryor to rehabilitate his reputation.
