Abstract

This article examines the impact of a novel under-desk leg swing device, called SitFlow, on cognitive ability and perceived cognitive outcomes in a workplace-like setting compared to traditional sitting. Using the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) with 18 undergraduate students in a randomized crossover design, the study found no significant difference in cognitive performance between using the device and sitting. Participants' self-reported alertness, attention, focus, and enjoyment tended to improve with increased familiarization with the device over time. The findings suggest that the under-desk leg swing device promotes physical movement without impairing cognitive function relevant to employee aptitude, though further research in real-world office environments and with objective cognitive measures is recommended.
