Abstract

The article reviews recent piano recordings by several distinguished artists, focusing primarily on Paul Wee's interpretation of Beethoven's last five piano sonatas, Anna Geniushene's performance of Berg's Piano Sonata Op. 1 and other early works, Daniil Trifonov's nuanced rendition of Tchaikovsky's Album for the Young and related pieces, and the duo Leif Ove Andsnes and Bertrand Chamayou's four-hand performances of Schubert's late works. Wee's recordings are noted for their clarity, refinement, and intellectual approach, while Geniushene's playing is praised for its articulation, dynamic sensitivity, and emotional depth. Trifonov's release is highlighted for its expressive storytelling and technical brilliance, and Andsnes and Chamayou's collaboration is recognized for its authority, tenderness, and detailed counterpoint. Each artist brings a distinctive perspective to well-known repertoire, contributing fresh insights within historically rich traditions.
