Abstract
The article discusses a study by Hans and colleagues, published in the issue which found that U.S. neighborhoods that were adversely redlines by the Home Owners Loan Corporation (HOLC) in the 1930s experienced increases in firearm violence during the COVID-19 pandemic than did those that were not. Topics include the growth of the scholarship linking historical HOLC redlining with firearm violence and important role for scholarship to help uncover and address the causes of firearm injuries.
