Abstract

The article offers information on NEC Corp. signing a contract to build a submarine cable network called the East Micronesia Cable System (EMCS). The cable will connect four islands within the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Kiribati, and Nauru, with grant funding provided by the governments of Australia, Japan, and the U.S. to improve networks in the Indo-Pacific region.
