Abstract

This article focuses on the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain and fatigue among poultry farm workers in western Tamil Nadu, India, and their associations with quality of life (QoL) and mental health. An observational study of 369 workers found that nearly half reported musculoskeletal pain—primarily in the lower back and knees—and most experienced mild to moderate fatigue. Both pain and fatigue were significantly linked to poorer physical and psychological QoL, as well as increased mental distress, with female workers reporting higher levels of pain and fatigue than males. The study highlights the need for ergonomic interventions, health monitoring, and mental health support to improve worker well-being and productivity in this occupational group.
