Abstract

A report published by the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession and the National Native American Bar Association explores the experiences of Native American women lawyers in the legal profession. The report, titled "Excluded & Alone: Examining the Experiences of Native American Women in the Law and a Path Towards Equity," is based on a qualitative research study conducted by Arin N. Reeves, Ph.D. The study includes personal stories from 74 Native American women lawyers who shared their challenges, including feelings of isolation and incidents of harassment. The report calls for action from legal professionals, urging them to learn about Native American women's experiences, commit to allyship, and take tangible supportive action. The findings were presented in a webinar featuring Commissioner Jin Y. Hwang and past President Linda Benally. [Extracted from the article]
