Abstract
The article focuses on the dominance of the U.S. dollar in the global economy over the past seven decades and the potential challenges it faces. The dollar accounts for a significant majority of foreign exchange transactions and international trade, providing the U.S. with various economic advantages, including reduced borrowing costs and powerful sanctioning capabilities. However, the article highlights concerns regarding the Trump administration's policies, which may undermine the dollar's status by threatening the independence of the Federal Reserve and the credibility of U.S. economic commitments. Despite efforts by other nations to create alternatives to the dollar, none have yet proven strong enough to displace it, although the article warns that continued attacks on the dollar's foundations could lead to its decline.
