Abstract
The article discusses innovative research aimed at locating clandestine burial sites in Mexico, where thousands of murder victims are believed to be buried due to criminal violence. Researchers from the Center for Research in Geography and Geomatics Ing. Jorge L. Tamayo (CentroGeo) have developed a method using multispectral cameras to detect chemical signatures associated with decomposed bodies, such as lime and lye, which can indicate burial sites. The study, which involved testing various methods of corpse disposal, demonstrated high accuracy in identifying these chemicals through remote sensing techniques. The findings could enhance ongoing efforts to locate the approximately 131,000 individuals listed as missing in Mexico. [Extracted from the article]
