Abstract
The author offers a response to a commentary made on his article "Toward a Communitarian Theory of Aesthetic Value," which explores the possibility of a theory of aesthetic value that derive the goodness of aesthetic value from the goodness of aesthetic community. He considers whether there are primitive questions that might motivate such a theory of aesthetic value and argues on the need to develop philosophical views about aesthetic value and aesthetic life by thinking narrowly about the individual's response to an artwork. He proposes a look at communitarian theories of aesthetic value that understand the nature of aesthetic value in terms of the goodness of aesthetic community.
