Abstract

This article discusses what two African American female sororities are attempting to do to preserve Woodlawn Cemetery, a sacred burial space located at 4611 Benning Road, SE, Washington, DC, which is the final resting place of two founders of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Marjorie Hill and Sarah Meriwether Nutter, and one founder of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Mary Edna Brown Coleman. The Washington DC Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has joined and created Goals and Objectives with the Washington, DC, chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in preservation efforts to save Woodlawn Cemetery. We want others to join us in saving this sacred burial space. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
