Abstract
Curling, a sport with a 500-year history, is thriving in the Midwest, with clubs popping up where men and women play every weeknight. The sport originated in the 16th century as a way to settle disputes between bored men and has since evolved into a popular winter pastime. The Appleton Curling Club, founded in 1939, has a dedicated community of 250 members from diverse backgrounds who come together to enjoy the game and support each other both on and off the ice.
