Abstract

The article explores the global presence and cultural significance of dragons, mythical reptilian creatures depicted with claws, teeth, and the ability to fly and breathe fire. It highlights how dragons appear in diverse forms across cultures—from treasure-guarding beasts in Germany to weather-controlling symbols of good fortune in Asia—and discusses theories about their origins, including fossil discoveries and real animals like the Komodo dragon, the largest living lizard native to Indonesia. Despite no scientific evidence supporting dragons' existence or fire-breathing abilities, their stories may have served as symbolic warnings about the dangers of the natural world. The enduring adaptability of dragon myths is reflected in popular culture, such as the "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Wings of Fire" series, where dragons take on varied roles from allies to formidable creatures.
