Abstract
The article provides a history of the 1743 slave voyage of the St. Ursin, the first slave ship carrying Africans to arrive in the French colony of Louisiana since the French-Chickasaw wars began. Topics discussed include histories of the French-Chickasaw diplomacy and French-Chickasaw wars, Africans and their descendants in the Second French-Chickasaw War, plantation life of enslaved people during the Second French-Chickasaw War, colonial expansion of warfare and the Atlantic slave trade.
