Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Western Ontario evaluated the measurement invariance of the Parenting Practices Scale in the Caribbean. The study used data from 1948 adolescent grade 10 students across four Caribbean islands (Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, The Bahamas, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines). The findings supported the original three-factor model of the scale, and factor loading invariance was found across the four islands. The researchers concluded that this parenting measure can be used to compare perceptions of parental behaviors among adolescents in the English-speaking Caribbean, with some limitations.
