Abstract
This article focuses on the outcomes of surgical repair for acute traumatic avulsions of the pyramidalis–anterior pubic ligament–adductor longus complex (PLAC) in professional athletes. In a retrospective case series of 62 professional athletes undergoing suture anchor fixation performed by a single surgeon, all patients returned to their preinjury level of professional sport within an average of 12.3 weeks, with no injury recurrence at a mean follow-up of 4.2 years. Surgical repair was associated with high patient satisfaction, significant improvements in functional performance measured by the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) and Marx Activity Rating Scale (MARS), and a low rate of postoperative complications. The study highlights the potential benefits of acute surgical intervention and standardized rehabilitation for PLAC injuries but notes limitations including lack of a nonoperative control group and applicability only to professional athletes.
