Abstract

This article focuses on Arapaho/Cheyenne artist Brent Learned and his innovative work that blends traditional Native imagery with contemporary Pop Art across various mediums, including music videos and film. Learned's art has gained wide visibility through projects such as the animated video for Indigenous band Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love" and the ledger-style illustrations featured in the Predator prequel, Prey. His work emphasizes authentic Indigenous narratives, often highlighting family life and women's roles, challenging common stereotypes in Native art. As both an artist and educator, Learned aims to reshape perceptions of Indigenous peoples by presenting nuanced, historically grounded stories through his art.
