Abstract

The article presents updates and accomplishments on the efforts to achieve dental hygienists' autonomy in the U.S. Other topics include how hygienists allegedly suffered from the so-called Stockholm Syndrome, in which they began to accept a system that disadvantage them, and how the Dental Hygiene Modernization Act is an essential step to achieve the proposed designation of Registered Dental Hygienist in Advanced Practice (RDH-AP).
