Abstract

The article focuses on recent developments in Africa's economic transformation, infrastructure projects, and sectoral growth as highlighted during the 38th African Union (AU) summit and related events. Angola's President Joao Manuel Lourenco assumed the AU chairmanship, emphasizing large-scale infrastructure initiatives such as the Lobito Corridor, a major transport project linking mineral-rich areas in the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Atlantic Ocean, supported by international investment. The African Development Bank's 2025 Macroeconomic Performance and Outlook (MEO) report projects moderate GDP growth for Africa but notes ongoing vulnerabilities including inflation, debt distress, and geopolitical tensions. Additionally, the eighth Africa Business Forum focused on livestock development, identifying opportunities in Africa's meat and dairy sectors and stressing the need for improved value chains, financing, and standards to enhance competitiveness.
