Abstract
The article focuses on the underrepresentation of women in U.S. policing, where women constitute only 12% of sworn officers and 3% of police leaders, figures that have remained unchanged for decades. It highlights the 30x30 Initiative, a national grassroots effort aimed at increasing both the representation and positive experiences of women in law enforcement to enhance public safety outcomes. After nearly three years and involvement from over 300 agencies, the initiative has generated valuable data, promising practices, and insights on advancing women in policing. Future plans include collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice to analyze trends, apply gender equity strategies from other sectors, and create an evidence-based guide for public agencies to foster workplace inclusivity.
