Abstract

The article from the Physics Teacher journal discusses the deployment of an airbag in a scene from the television series Reacher. It explores the physics behind airbag deployment, the history of airbags, and modern airbag technology. The article presents two methods for students to analyze the realism of the scene in question, using principles of impulse and Newton's second law. Ultimately, the article concludes that the events portrayed in the television series are impossible based on the calculated forces required for airbag deployment. [Extracted from the article]
