Abstract

This article focuses on the CARE study, a research project based in Milan, Italy, that investigates variability in suicide risk assessment among healthcare professionals and the general population. The study evaluates whether brief training and the use of the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) improve consistency and accuracy in suicide risk estimates compared to unstructured clinical judgment. Using a vignette-based randomized design, the study compares risk assessments across diverse participant groups and examines both between-group and within-subject discrepancies. Findings aim to inform targeted training, support standardized assessment tools, and enhance public health strategies for early and consistent suicide risk evaluation. [Extracted from the article]
