Abstract
This article focuses on an archival project documenting Mapuche hip hop as a decolonizing artistic practice that produces and circulates knowledge about Mapuche identity, history, and territory. The archive, developed collaboratively with Mapuche rapper and researcher Waikil, integrates digital primary sources—including music, posters, audiovisual materials—and oral testimonies to foreground Mapuche perspectives and situated knowledge. Mapuche hip hop functions as a symbolic extension of Mapuche territory (Wallmapu), bridging urban and rural experiences, revitalizing language and spirituality, and challenging colonial narratives through critical discourse and pedagogy. The project emphasizes ethical, dialogical research methods that balance systematic data organization with respect for orality and Indigenous epistemologies, illustrating the multifaceted role of hip hop in cultural resistance and knowledge production within and beyond Mapuche communities.
