Abstract

Despite efforts by the Supreme Court and various environmental initiatives, Agra's environmental crisis continues to worsen, posing a threat to the iconic Taj Mahal and other heritage sites in the region. The city's green cover has drastically decreased, air pollution levels are dangerously high, and the Yamuna River is heavily contaminated. The situation is exacerbated by illegal stone mining, malfunctioning sewage treatment plants, and unchecked urban expansion. Local environmentalists are calling for a reassessment of past initiatives and greater accountability for expenditures and outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
