Abstract
The article discusses research on the #BlackLivesMatter movement, focusing on the dynamics of collective anger as a predictor of peaks in online activism. The study analyzed approximately 60 million tweets from 2015 to 2020, finding that delayed emotional recovery in anger, referred to as critical slowing down, along with reduced emotional variance, correlates with increased likelihood of activism peaks. This research integrates emotional dynamics with complex systems theory, potentially offering new methods for forecasting significant moments in collective behavior. The findings are based on a preprint abstract and have not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
