Abstract

The article focuses on a reassessment of the domestic legacy of Tony Blair’s Labour governments in the United Kingdom from 1997 onward. It highlights that despite polarized views—leftist critiques of neoliberalism, right-wing concerns about British identity, and widespread opposition to the 2003 Iraq invasion—Blair’s administration achieved notable improvements in areas such as crime reduction, homelessness, housing expansion, immigration reform, and investment in public services like healthcare, education, and childcare. The analysis emphasizes that public trust in government increased and the Labour coalition remained stable during this period. It also notes that many of these gains were later reversed by Conservative governments, though this was not attributed to Blair’s administration.
