Abstract
In his introductory chapter, Geaves explains the book, 'revolves around a little-known encounter between Prem Rawat (Guru Maharaj Ji) and the British counterculture gathered at Glastonbury Fayre in June 1971' (p. 1). Geaves argues that rigid classifications are especially problematic; Prem Rawat may be best described as a "solitary sant", but even that label is not entirely accurate. Geaves also briefly discusses subsequent Glastonbury festivals and argues for the synergy between the success of the Festival and Prem Rawat's popular appeal. [Extracted from the article]
