Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Abo Akademi University in Turku, Finland, explores the challenges faced by asylum officials when assessing the credibility of asylum claims based on sexual orientation. The study found that officials often rely on unsupported assumptions about human sexuality, sexual identity formation, and sexual behavior, which undermines the validity of the asylum process and puts vulnerable individuals at risk.
