Abstract

The article focuses on the Paraphile project, a pilot initiative launched in 2019 by the National Institute of Mental Health in the Czech Republic to provide early interventions for individuals at increased risk of sexual offending, particularly those with paraphilic sexual preferences. The project offers free, anonymous psychotherapy and conducts educational workshops for professionals, including police officers, social workers, and health professionals. Between 2021 and 2022, 75 police officers participated in a four-hour training course covering paraphilia theory, risk factors, and intervention strategies, with the course's effectiveness being evaluated through pre- and post-training measures of professional competence, stigma, and emotional compliance. Preliminary results are under analysis and aim to inform future educational planning for police officers on paraphilias and related sexological topics.
