Abstract
The article "Precarious Asia: Global capitalism and work in Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia" published in the Japanese Journal of Sociology discusses the rise of precarious work in these three Asian countries due to neoliberal globalization and domestic political and social factors. The book examines various forms of precarious work, labor market institutions, and social protections available to workers under precarious employment conditions. While the book provides ample data to support its arguments, it also highlights some shortcomings, such as factual errors and misunderstandings about the Japanese case. Despite these limitations, the book serves as an excellent introduction to understanding the precarious working conditions in Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia. [Extracted from the article]
