Abstract

The article focuses on Enhanced Anchored Instruction (EAI), a multimedia-based, contextualized approach designed to improve mathematical problem-solving skills among students with disabilities in diverse special education classrooms. EAI integrates explicit instruction, video anchors, and authentic hands-on activities to help students apply foundational math concepts in real-world contexts, addressing the common issue of inert knowledge. The article details the components of EAI and illustrates its implementation through a fourth-grade teacher's culturally responsive lesson involving a marathon video anchor and related authentic activities. By combining technology tools with culturally relevant content and scaffolded support, EAI aims to foster deeper engagement and skill transfer for students with diverse learning needs.
