Abstract
The article focuses on how the thirteenth-century French prose "Lancelot" uses the games of chess and the carole dance as interconnected ludic structures that illuminate the character and narrative role of Lancelot. Topics include the interpretation of medieval dance as a rule-based game comparable to chess, the concept of intertwined "game spaces" that shape the story's symbolism, and how Lancelot's participation reveal themes of love, fate, and identity in the Arthurian narrative.
