Abstract

The article focuses on a study conducted by researchers at Hitit University that investigates how mood (positive or negative) and presentation format (picture or text) affect idea generation during online brainstorming sessions. The study found that participants exposed to pictures generated more unique ideas than those exposed to text, and those in a positive mood produced more unique ideas and demonstrated greater flexibility compared to those in a negative mood. Additionally, persistence was identified as a moderating factor, with high persistence in a positive mood leading to the generation of more unique ideas. The research suggests that flexibility may mediate the relationship between mood and creativity, and it calls for further exploration of visually engaging stimuli and the role of persistence in future studies.
