Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive survey of Ferruccio Busoni's solo piano music, tracing his compositional development from early derivative works through to his mature and radical late style. It highlights key phases in Busoni's output, including his adolescent sets of piano pieces that engage with Baroque, Classical, and Romantic traditions; his ambitious early adult works such as the Chopin Variations and Piano Sonata; and his most conceptually complex compositions like *An die Jugend* and *Fantasia contrappuntistica*. The article also discusses Busoni's late piano Sonatinas and pedagogical *Klavierübung* exercises, emphasizing their innovative integration of past musical styles with modernist ideas. Recommended recordings by notable pianists are provided to guide listeners and researchers in exploring Busoni's evolving aesthetic and technical contributions to piano repertoire.
