French footwear exports down 3% in the first 8 months of 2025.

Abstract

The article focuses on the performance of the French footwear industry in the first eight months of 2025, as reported by Alliance France Cuir, the trade association for the leather and leather goods sector. French exports of footwear decreased by 3 percent to €3.523 billion, while imports increased by 3 percent to €5.597 billion. Domestic shoemakers experienced a revenue decline of 7.2 percent, with total production volume dropping by 11.4 percent. In contrast, footwear retailers in France saw a revenue increase of 1.7 percent, with a slight sales volume growth of 0.2 percent and an average selling price rise of 4.5 percent.
