Abstract
The article examines how writers Y-Dang Troeung and Anthony Veasna So reinterpret Cambodian diasporic identity by shifting attention from inherited trauma to intergenerational debt and kinship in the United States and Canada. It draws on critical refugee studies and Cambodian diaspora scholarship to argue that the postmemory generation's relationship to genocide is structured less by borrowed trauma and more by moral and familial obligations to kin and to Western humanitarian states.
