Abstract

The article focuses on how John Reade's "The Prophecy of Merlin and Other Poems" situates King Arthur's legends within Canadian landscapes to examine the colonial implications of mapping Camelot onto modern cities. Topics include the imperial and patriarchal power embedded in Arthurian place-naming, the historical roots of Canadian Arthuriana in the nineteenth century, and the gendered exclusions and symbolic contradictions that shape how such spaces are experienced and read.
