Abstract

The article focuses on challenging assumptions about the influence of Mesoamerica on Indigenous peoples in the Greater Nicoya region. Topics include the diverse languages spoken in Greater Nicoya, the encounter between Europeans and the Chorotega warriors, and the linguistic connections between the Indigenous people of Greater Nicoya and those from central Mexico and South America.
