Abstract
The document examines Trithemius' passages on King Arthur and his connection with Emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg. Trithemius, advisor to the emperor, presents Arthur as an ancestor of the Habsburgs, thus strengthening Maximilian's legitimacy. Trithemius' texts on Arthur highlight his exemplary governance and his role as a warrior-king. Maximilian, who was passionate about Arthur, sought to elevate the British king to the rank of Duke of Habsburg, even placing him in his lineage. Maximilian's veneration of Arthur was palpable in the arts and culture, illustrating a cultural appropriation and imitation of Arthur's virtues. [Extracted from the article]
