Abstract
The article focuses on the common misalignment between strategy and execution within organizations and offers guidance on how leaders can improve their coordination. It identifies three key breakdowns in the handoff: when strategy outpaces organizational capacity (the Pace Problem), when roles do not align with the skills required by the strategy (the Lane Problem), and when managers lack clear visibility into strategic priorities (the Coach Problem). The author emphasizes that organizations often do not need new systems but better use of existing ones through clearer communication, shared definitions, trust-based feedback loops, and effective meetings. Strengthening the connection between strategy and execution enables teams to work with greater clarity, confidence, and alignment toward organizational goals.
