Abstract

The article focuses on the removal of the Pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument by the federal government and the subsequent community response to preserve LGBTQ+ history. The monument, established in 2016, honors the 1969 Stonewall riots, a pivotal event in the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. Activists and allies have opposed efforts by the Trump administration to restrict queer rights and erase LGBTQ+ histories. In response, a new weekly online series titled "History Is Queer" has been launched to explore significant LGBTQ+ moments and their ongoing influence. The series invites public participation to help document and preserve queer histories. [Extracted from the article]
